The major purpose of cladding is to separate the indoor environment of a building from the outdoors in order to maintain the indoor environment at levels suitable for the intended use. In building construction, cladding serves aesthetic purposes and also works out several problems relative to controlling the infiltration of weather elements: it prevents air leakage and the entry of water, controls the passage of light and the conduction of heat into and out of a building, isolates the interior of a building from the noise outside, etc.
